My personal research focus is on the diadromous and freshwater fishes of the North Atlantic basin in the northeastern US and northwestern Europe, and the suite of regional stressors (including climate and land use change, hydrologic alteration and barriers to movement, and atmospheric pollution) that are characteristic of these highly human-dominated landscapes. My goal is to link environmental variation with individual and population vital rates, and then, then incorporate these results into models and decision support tools to aid restoration, conservation, and management. In addition to my personal research, I lead the Urban and Urbanizing Landscapes program in the Northern Research Station, an interdisciplinary unit of biophysical social scientists whose goal is to provide science support for sustainable socio-ecosystems, and serve as a co-P.I. for the Department of Interior Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center
